Susan Metheny: I am an Educational Consultant and an Independent Researcher. I have worked at all levels of education, starting as an instructional aide for special education students in middle school and high school to teaching, researching, and advising at the university level; I have also served as a consultant to writing programs in secondary and higher education. I work with all levels of speakers and writers, helping them to research their topics, to organize their thoughts, and to complete their writing and speaking tasks in a timely manner. I work with students who speak English as a native language and with students who use English as a second language. I have taught linguistics, anthropology, psychology, and applied reading and writing at the university level. I have completed my Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, working on alternative assessment for second language learners of English. I use linguistics to teach across the disciplines of Language and Education and English Language Learning, and even Mathematics!
